Default Need new batteries for 03 Friendship

I need to replace the engine batteries in my 2003 Friendship Quattro. I have looked through the Freightliner and Cummins owners manuals but can't fine the type of battery listed. The connections look different than any other battery I have seen so I assume they are a special type. Can anyone help me with this? I want to change them myself and save a few $$$.

Can you explain to us a bit more as to what is so different about you connections on your batteries.
I bought mine at Camper World in Las Vegas about three years ago. They are made by Interstate and are called Workaholics. I believe I paid around 340 dollars for two (installed).

They appear to have threaded connections on the top rather than posts or side terminals.

I just replaced both batteries on my '03 Friendship Quattro about 6 weeks ago. They are threaded terminals.

I went to the nearby NAPA store and they were unable to get a match by vehicle model and make. I called the dealer for a part number, but they couldn't find anything, so they called the factory. The part number provided by the factory did not cross reference to anything in the NAPA book.

I removed them and took them to the NAPA store and they were able to match them up. They do an exchange so, I had to take them there anyway.

They are fairly common commercial grade batteries. Very easy to install and their price was quite reasonable compared to the RV dealer or Freightliner. Beside NAPA, they are probably available at Batteries Plus and at some auto parts stores.

Yep! Mine are also threaded, but Camper World had them in stock.

Hey guys!

Just replaced the starter battery pair in my '07 Tour Master 40C (built in late 2006...) and found the best deal I could get was through my local Freightliner dealer. They stock the Interstate sealed Group 31 battery rated at 1010 CCA , part number 22601. Out the door they were only $83.15 each (instant credit for the core charge since I took my old ones in when I went there to pick these up.) Plus, the parts department there is open until 11 PM at night so I did not have to deal with rush hour traffic to get there during "normal business hours" like some battery houses!

Next I plan on replacing the 4 each 6 volt golf cart type batteries for the inverter -- found them locally for about $79 each instead of the camping world price of $149. I appreciate that Camping World has a good selection of a broad range of needed supplies and parts for our coaches, but it still pays to shop around on the big ticket items. I recently got my toad set up with all Roadmaster equipment for about $1000 less than the quote from CW, and still used top of the line Sterling bar, Brakemaster 9160 air system, etc. with professional installation.

Chuck

Good to hear Chuck. I treat CW the same way I treat a convenience store. I go only when necessary. Their prices are way out of line. Even with the so called "President's Club Sale Price" on everything you can usually find it cheaper elsewhere.

I replaced the starting batteries on our coach last November, got them at our Freightliner dealer for almost $200.00 with tax for the pair.

Ron,

No sales tax in Oregon, so I got away clean for $166.30 for the pair!

Nope!! NO SALES TAX on the motor home itself when I bought it....nor the toad, nor any of my other major purchases since I moved here in 1993.

Plus, my car registration used to be under $40 for every two years when we first got up here, but that has been creeping up and it is almost $90 for two years now... These fees are independent of age or value of the vehicle -- quite a change from the California taxes & registration we were subjected to prior to moving here.
