I'm towing with a Chevy Avalanche which comes with a Class III hitch (5000# towed and #500 tongue weight). I've towed a 4000#/14' 2-horse trailer with it. My question is: Is it worth it to pay the $725 extra for this size trailer?

Look on Craig's list or Kijiji- you'll find something, I'm sure. I just got a complete Curt 10000 LB rated hitch w / 1000 Tongue wt. for $150.00- would have cost me $750.00 or more plus installation at the dealer. I needed it for a one time job- hauling a 7000 lb trailer from the dealer to my seasonal site. Turns out the guy I got it from needed it for the same thing. I may sell it soon, I'll never need it again - that trailer is there for the rest of our camping life.
