Generator issue
Hey there everyone
I bought this Gulf Stream Ultra 30' er recently. The previous owner rarely used the generac generator but it was all in working order when I bought it. Fresh oil...fresh gas. Starts right up. I had been running the generator nightly for a few weeks....running the AC the Tvs etc. One day I noticed that the AC power wasn't working. Tvs...Microwave....none of the outlets. I checked the fuses on the generator and at the converter box....I checked the 2 gfci outlets but neither would reset. When I plugged the unit into a wall outlet everything works. Even the GFCI outlets
Ive done some searching....first I heard of the ATS switch...Ive looked everywhere on this thing and cannot find it anywhere.
Then I read something about ot losing the slight electromagnetic charge or something. Not too sure about that one.
Then something about the voltage regulator.
Does anyone have any idea where I should look? The generator starts and runs fine....just no juice to the AC power outlets.

There will be an AC output breaker on the generator. check that and see if it's tripped.
If that isn't it, then yeah, I'd check for power at the transfer switch...when you find it.
The electromagnetic charge issue won't be the problem since it was just producing power. That happens with a long period of non use.

If you have NO ATS, you will have a receptacle in your Shoreline compartment, and you simply manually plug shoreline into it; if you have ATS, (generally) it is very close to the Breaker/ Fuse Panel for the coach (behind on floor?), and both are very close to where ever the shoreline enters the coach? For my floorplan that puts panel and ATS under sink

Also check your a.c. units, do you have a inverter? My inverter supplies every 110 outlet but air conditioners , in other words, if the a.c. units work, check the breakers on the inverter, if you dont have one, back to the transfer switch, your shore power cord will lead to your transfer switch. A lot of times the relay pins will arc together so they won't transfer, this is from unuging or turning the generator off with a load.
My transfer switch has open relays and you can push on the relay arms to see if there stuck. NOW IF YOU DO THIS MAKE SURE ALL-ALL POWER IF REMOVED. Shore power unplugged and genny off.

Oh sweet! Ok will trace the shore power cord. Yes...theres one AC...I dint think theres an inverter just a converter....Im starting to think the ATS is under the seat where the fusebox is....that would make sense actually. Thanks so much for your help!!!

Hey thanks! Am going to look behind the cover in the next few days. If this isn't it I have no idea where to go next other than maybe taking it in to the mechanic.

I recently had a similar problem with my Generac 7500 Generator in my 2006 Gulf Stream Tour Master T40. The voltage regulator was the problem. Now that it has been replaced, my generator is producing the electricity needed to run everything.

My ATS was located in the corner of the bathroom cabinets. its pretty small,so csn hide easy. Go to amazon, so you have an idea what youre looking for. thrn look for a space it could hide, probably inside the RV somewhere to protect it from the elements.
Fairly easy to replace. Order a replacement on amazon. just get a bigger one. If yours is 30 amps, purchase a 50. It'll last longer. Its just a relay with a delay timer.

TIP: ATS typically located very close to where ever the Shoreline cord enters the RV
