Default Experience with C40Y?

I am looking at a 2008 GS C40Y and wonder if anyone has any information (+/-) on this model? Also, any thoughts on how GS compares to a Fleetwood, Itasca, Damon or Winnebago?

Thanks!

What is a Gulf Stream C40Y? Never heard of a coach called a C40Y. Can you give us a little more information. Is this a Class C coach, Fifth Wheel trailer?

Jerry,

The 2008 Crescendo brochure has a C40K floor plan with a long street side slide and a front kitchen -- sound familiar?

To answer your question as to how Gulf Stream coaches compare to the coaches mentioned, I will say that every company has entry level coaches and flagship coaches. So to be fair about answering your question it all depends on which coach you are referring to and where it falls in the level category. Fleetwood manufactures many level coaches. Starting from the entry level diesel which you could purchase for around 150K, but then they also have coaches like the American Eagle which sells for close to 600K. And the same goes for all companies.

I can only speak for my Gulf Stream Scenic Cruiser and it was the flagship of Gulf Stream in 2002. It has been an excellent coach with minimal problems in the last ten years. The only major problem that I had was with the Huei fuel pump quitting on me and had to be replaced. It was still under warranty, so it only cost me fifty dollars. Other then that it has been a very good coach.

I can also say that I belong to a Gulf Stream Club in California. Most have TourMasters and Scenic Cruisers, and they all seem to like their coaches.

You can get a bad coach with any company. There is no company that can claim that all their coaches are trouble free. You got to realize it is a house going down the road bouncing around and things could need adjustments or even repaired.

Coaches are like automobiles in a way. You can not compare a 300K coach with a 600K dollar coach. But if you compare the coaches that run about the same in price, they are pretty much equal. Just the name is different. You also have to realize that Gulf Stream is not in the motorized business anymore. They got out of it when the economy took a dump. They only manufacture trailers and fifth wheel trailers.
