Default Changing Inverter Batteries - Tourmaster

Has anyone with a late model Tourmaster changed their own batteries or saw it done? There is a bar that that pivots over the batteries when you close the front compartment cover and is in the way when you change the batteries. In order to change the batteries, the old batteries need to be slid out the end of the tray, or the front cover will need to be removed for easier access. It appears that there may be 8 or so screws on each side.

Did you remove the front cover, or slide the batteries out and new ones in from each end of the tray? The working tollerance for removing and reconnecting the cables is much smaller with the cover left on.

THe chrome bar that pivots the hood that runs across the lenght of the batteries? To make it easy yes remove the hood and also clean up the bracket and repaint before reinstalling the batteries

When I changed mine I slid two out to the right and two out to the left...I used bungees to hold cables up above their original position which made it easy to hook back up......hardest thing was getting old batteries out they were heavy..and one of the studs was twisting with the nut I had to hacksaw that out.......jim k

Jim-
Thanks. My batteries arrived at the Club Car shop today. After a couple weeks of vacillating and talking to several different battery factory folks and other experts (some self ordained), I bought 4 6V Trojan 125's. They are the same size, have more capacity and should serve my needs. I was going to buy Gels then looked at AGM's and most told me the only advantages to them was the maintenance free aspects.

I also ordered one of the Onan wireless energy command devices EC-30W that will give me automatic generator start by monitoring the batteries and will also provide generator start if it's thermostat requires air conditioning.

So, when the batteries came in today, my buddy that ordered them told me that he would have his employees change them out for $20, so I decided that it wasn't worth me trying to do it. They change out numerous batteries every day in golf carts, so I have confidence that they will do the job right.

Dick

I changed to interstate golf cart batteries....but they have a lever type device for the caps....all one piece easier to remove but the original battery hold down brackets would not be reusable I had to rig another way to tie them down....jim k
