Default Steps

The Kwikee steps on our Crescendo 8356 decided to give up on us over the weekend. No joy whatsoever. I located two fuses, both of which test okay (one is the main power in the fust box in the front compartment, road side), and the other is for the ignition cut out in the dashboard fuse box. The steps do not function at all, but the light works fine. Any suggestions?

On our former Sun Voyager there was a wire on the steps inside the coach. Seems it may have had a magnetic connection. The wire ran along the steps at the carpeting edge.

Default Kwikee

Go to the Kwikee web site they have an excellant trouble shooting guide. If that doesn't work call Kwikee, they were very helpful for me.

On our first trip (extreme rookies) our steps would not come in. The problem was our batteries were run down. The root of our problem was the inverter was shot. Caused high end stress .

Default Aw, crap drill

Well, this has turned worse. We replaced the "brain" (circuit board assembly) on the Kwikee steps, which fixed the problem. However, two days later, for no apparent reason, we're back to square one! Looks like something is frying the circuit. Thoughts???

I owned my Sun Voyager for about 6 months when one day the steps would not go in. I messed with the wireing, ran another ground to the frame and looked at all the fuses and then it started working again. Then again in about 6 months it acted up again, they came out when I was driving, or they didn't go in when I shut the door. Anyway driving through Birmingham, Ala. a trucker motioned to me that I had a problem, I pulled over and found it was the steps out. Could not get them to go back in so I continued on to the campground and before I got there they went back in. I finally found a fuse in the first compartment under the driver side and found that by wiggling the wires it would start to work again. So when I got home I thought I would make a repair to a bad wire. but when I tried to find the wire it was such a mess that I forgot about it. Now it has been several years and I have not had the problem again. But at least I think I know where to look if I do.
