Default Balancing new tires glass beads

About to replace tires on my 08 TM 40A. Different dealers offering different balancing techniques. Traditional spin balancing, powder, and glass beads. Interested in experiences anyone has with powder or beads. The dealer I'm leaning towards uses glass beads. Says they use them on all RVs and semis without problems. He says he changed from powder to beads because of problems when moisture got into the tire from air hose without an air dryer. Problem was that wet powder would collect on bottom when tire was stationary for a while and then not spread out when in motion and cause severe imbalance. This is not a problem with beads according to him.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
John

I have used Equal which is a powder. I have used it now for seven years and my coach gives me the smoothest ride you can ask for. The tread wears even, fact they looked new when I changed them at five years. But if you do decide to use the Equal, you also have to use the screened valve stems.

Research on the internet does not indicate that the usefulness of beads is conclusive. Evidence seems to be anecdotal at best, and there is some thought that there may be negatives, specifically internal damage to tires and warrantee problems.

If you can find someone in your area, why not try tire truing, the old-fashioned method where high spots are shaved from the tires, making them perfectly true. Add a little lead to that, and the tires run wonderfully and wear long past the time they die of dry rot.
