Default Gulfstream Crescendo Oil Change Question

WE have just purchased a "new to us" 2006 Gulfstream. The engine is a Caterpillar 7.2L 300 HP Turbo Charged Diesel type C7 ACERT. Total mileage to date is 8,500 and yes it was serviced when we picked up the coach in Tucson. It's connected to an Allison 6 speed transmision model 3000 MH. We do NOT have the engine manual as it was not with the coach when sold. I am trying to find out for this type of engine, what is the prescribed service intervals.

Any and all responses are GREATLY appreciated.

We have the same coach! Determine your type of driving application for your coach: Light, Medium, Heavy Duty or Severe Service. Light Duty = 13,200 miles, Medium Duty= 11,000, Heavy = 8,800, Severe Service = 6,800.

Our Cat Service Center recommends 7500 miles or once a year. We have 15,000 miles on our rig. Our next maintenance we will have Engine valve lash inspection/adjustment as well as the Allison transmission initial fluid and filter change (recommended at 25,000 miles or 12 months).

This information was taken from our Caterpillar Operation and Maintenance Manual for C7 on Highway Engines and from our Freightliner RV Chassis Maintenance Manual. These manuals can be ordered.

Good luck with your "new" coach!!

The C-7 engine takes 19 quarts of oil. Originally Caterpillar had on their manuals that they took 22 quarts of oil, then they found out that it was excessive oil and that is why they were having problems with the excess coming out the breather tube. A bulletin was issued out by Caterpillar to put only 19 quarts of oil with filter change. The problem of the oil coming out the breather tube stopped and also has kept the oil from getting on rear radiators, which was a problem with some coaches that didn't have the extended breather tube modification.
I have the 3126-E Cat engine which is the same as the C-7 except it does not have the ACERT system which gives me 330 hp. I change the oil once a year because I will not put the mileage in a year of 16K highway miles in a clean enviroment. I do all the work myself and is fairly easy.
