Default T40-B Power Gear Hydraulic System workaround

We replaced the motor on the Hydraulic Power Gear brand hydraulic system this week. It had burnt out due to constantly running due to a bad sensor in the Outrigger (jacks) system telling the unit to run constantly.

The motor is easily replaceable and is used in the boating industry more commonly these days, the Power Gear brand was bought out by the Lippert corporation. They are of little help with the Power Gear line of products they now own, fyi.

With the motor running constantly, it harmed one side of the pump. What one must do in this situation, until you can find a replacement pump and have replaced the motor (easy to find), is switch the two hydraulic lines using a 5/8ths wrench, these two lines are the furthest most in from the outside access bay marked in red labels, which will allow you to pull in and out on the slide out system. I don't recommend extending the slides completely out, only part way until you replace the pump on the system. However, this will get the slide out in and get you home if it gets stuck due to one side of the pump failing.

If you want to extend the jacks the hydraulic lines must be in the original position (not switched in location) and they will work fine, but once the lines are switched, you will get an error on your jack panel.

We had to unplug the jack panel to stop it from running the motor as it continues to think the jacks are down when they are in the complete up position.

In this situation, just undo connections behind the panel by pulling out all four screws on the plate and unplugging them from the back until the jack sensors can be replaced. You will have slide out capability and jacks with just a minor inconvenience of plugging the jack harnesses back in when jacks are needed until repairs can be addressed.

Cheers,

Jonathan
