Default New rig and 1st time out (California City-Mojave Desert)

Here she is. DW and the kids love it. Compared to the rentals we've been using the past couple of years, we are staying at the FOUR SEASONS. Pull a 20' trailer filled with quads and a soon to be sand rail. She does not break any land speed records, but drives like a dream. We're planning another trip in April sometime. Glad I joined the Gulfstream family.

Very, very nice looking rig. When you get a chance, would you please have the coach weighed at a truck scale when it is full of fuel, water, and gear. I have not seen weights posted for a 37' or 40' model and I am curious about how much more they weigh than my 34' which weighs 20,600# fully loaded.

I already weighed the unit with 2 full tanks of diesel (140 gallons), and a full 150 gallons of water in the fresh tank. Actually, I used about 2.5 gallons of fuel since the weigh station was @15 miles from where I fueled up. I was driving (@195lbs) and my wife was in the passenger seat (@135lbs). The weight ticket read 28193.50lbs. I had some miscellaneous junk in the RV at the time but nothing that weighed an outrageous amount. According to my math, that leaves me 2806.50lbs to load the RV with and 5000lbs out back to tow. My kids weigh 60, 45, and 25lbs a piece right now. On the next trip, I will load it up with the normal junk and see what it weighs with the kids in it. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks so much for your reply. You are the first I have seen that has actually weighed the larger model coach. I am a bit confused though. My weight sticker in the coach says GVWR of 25999# and GCWR 33000# (combined weight of coach and trailer or towed vehicle). Did they raise the GVWR and GCWR on the large coaches? I could not find any difference other than a longer wheel base from the 34, 37 and 40' models in the literature that I have.

Looking at the two stacked windows for the bunk beds in the center of the driver side picture and the absence of a window due to the rear bath on the back of the coach, I would say that is a 6400.

I am a bit confused on that also when I read it back. I will look at my owner's manual when I go to the coach and reply back.

Yes, it is the 6400 Grand Hotel.

Nice looking rig always cool to see Super Cs with a box trailer behind them. I just recently picked up our new 08 Yellowstone 6316 and 28' pace enclosed trailer. Now if spring will ever come around here maybe I can get to racing!

Nice looking unit. You mentioned no land speed record. Did you see how fast it would go? My Endura on a International chassis seems to have a governor at 75MPH. I was wondering if you were able to go faster then that.

No trailer on level ground (210 freeway in So Cal) i can hit the governor at 75mph with a decently loaded rig (i.e full water tank, 3/4 fuel, 3 passengers, food and gear).
With trailer on level ground I can get her to 65 mph but it takes a good bit to get her up to speed.
Fully loaded with a trailer going up hill (15 freeway from So Cal to Vegas) she will get maybe to 45mph but she stays constant at 35-40mph.
Fully loaded with a trailer down hill she will get get past 75mph, but I do not like to do that too often.

Love your setup. I looked at the Yellowstone but the wife fell in love with the 2nd bathroom.

I agree with matching the trailer to the rig, but that s#*t is expensive. I am still looking at options but with those prices, not any time soon.

It has some gold/pewter checkerboard wave graphix towards the bottom of the trailer it matches ok for me. Just enough to breakup the monotony of the white.


We went with the 6316 because it had only the single slide, large storage and shortest floorplan on the Kodiak chassis. I would have loved the International but it was out of my price range. Fully loaded the trailer is going to be about 8500lbs so I needed to be conservative anyway on the coach to come in under the GCWR
