Default Are slid locks used for just Motorhomes??

Are slide locks just for Coaches or do we all need them. Nobody has ever asked me if I use them or that I should use them. What's the scoop??

We use our slide locks in our M/h they came with them and we use them so I guess if you have a slide and you have slide locks why not use them. I really thought the dealer where we bought the M/h thought that the slide locks were not an important part, but on our last M/h we used them and it was just a way of one last thing to go wrong.

Good Luck
Bill

My Canyon Trail did not come with slide locks. The manual says travel bars are not needed because of the positive locking clutch system. My slide is powered by an electric motor though and is not hydraulic, If you have a hydraulic slide I think the travel locks are safety in case of a broken hose.

I have slide locks but I have never used them. I was not too keen on mounting a friction secured bar above my head so it could come loose while I was running the 'gorge'.

I also was told that the slide lock bars are a big moneymaker for the dealers as people forget to take them out and then operate their slides and then snap, crackle, pop...uh honey...

We recieved paper work from GS that said we had to use them in our Sun Voyager but unless your plastic man you cant get the kitchen on in place due to the lack of room.

Default I haven't used mine yet

I got travel bars for all three of the slides but as of yet I have not used them. Like one of the others said if you forget them you are going to have big problems. I will keep my eye on them and if they tend to come open I will then use them. So far they have stayed tightly closed. I think if you do use them you are going to have marks on the walls where they rest also. they will be just enough movement to wear that area. Yes if the hoses breaks they might come open, but for mow I am going to watch & see.
