That was a big part of it. When we got back from our trip I started looking and noticed that I couldn't even see the fins. When I had the engine replaced they cleaned everything and surprise no overheating.

I also think I was lunging the engine going up the mountain, didn't realize it needed to be running at a higher RPM.
