We are looking for an RV to use when going to races. We'll be pulling a 6500 lbs. enclosed car trailer. Looked at a GS 2008 Conquest Super C this weekend, gas version. Has the bunk option which we really like. This was claimed to be a unit being sold for a bank from a failed dealer. An assortment of minor things were worn or broken inside which seems strange. I'd be interested in what current GS owners think of the quality and reliability of them?

I think I'd rather have a diesel than the gas motor. Any comments on fuel economy for gas vs. diesel? ANyone have towing experience with them?

Thanks

Ken

Be sure to check around the front of the coach exterior where the front cap meets the side wall. If you see no signs of cracking you probably have a pretty good coach. these are great alaround coaches with the exception of the occasional crack in this area.

If this is the Kodiak chassis (C5500) with the 8.1L gas engine, you'll get around 7.5mpg. If it had the diesel engine, it would get around 10mpg, but cost around $10,000 more. It's mostly a matter of whether you will drive it enough each year to make up the difference, IMO.

We got ours new in 08 and so far we get around 9-10 mpg (gas). Other than a few minor problems we have had good luck with it.

The OP asked about the Super C model. I believe that you are referring to a van chassis based model. The 8.1L gas engine in the C5500 chassis pretty consistently gets around 7.5 mpg, according to my usage and everyone I've talked to in the past three years.
