The range of our Jensen VR 187 radio is severly limited compared to our car radio. I spoke with Jensen technical support and they felt it could be one of the following 3 problems:
1- The back of the radio is not connected to the roof antenna
2 - The antenna cable is next to an ac power cable and picking up interference
3 - The radio is connected to the square frame antenna that is attached inside the entertainment center and this antenna is not sufficient.
Does anyone know which antenna the radio is connected to? We are looking for any insights or suggestions of what we can do to correct this problem.
Thanks,
Kate

Mine is also connected to the passenger side roof antenna, and the reception is also terrible.

The antenna always rotates "down" to the rear when traveling. I've tried adjusting it upright, but I'm afraid I'll break it by overtightening. The driver's side, CB antenna lead also didn't work. Turns out the coax had been damaged before I took delivery. I've wondered if that is the case with the am/fm radio as well.

I'm not sure how to check it. Replacing the coax is a bear. Let us know if you (or anyone) has a solution.

Hi...

There is nothing wrong with your install or the unit. I say thing for you can't really expect much out of that antenna that these are hooked up to. They are small and are not very good and limited range would be expected.

They are the same one used for the CB (Driver side one) and for any of you that hooked up a CB, you have to know how limited that is.

They only resolve is a differnt antenna. But I really would personal not go though that. I just use the AMS (Automatic Music Search) button to fine the 6 strongest channels when I start to loose the one I was listening to.

As ususal David, your suggestion was great. We hit the AMS button and were thrilled that it worked so well. Thanks

Your welcome. And it is like rolling the dice, you never know what type of music you will find with AMS. Always an adventure. :)
