dash a/c control panel

my dash control panel will not turn on the ac compressor,the fan and air direction functions work but when ac is turned on ,just outside temperature air comes through the vents and i cant here the compressor clutch cut in -what to look for .i didnt touch anything in the back,engine area, but did remove the control panel to help with runing wires to hook up a brake controller

Pull the control panel check all the wires and connections. This same thing happened to me 4 months ago. I found that in the process of reinstalling the panel I pinched a wire and the connection loosened.

don't for the obvious, it could be low on charge (assuming a low pressure switch) which would not allow the compressor to engage. You could test by placing a meter on the AC test port-cheap ones can be had at the auto parts store.
