Generac 5500 in my 2001 30 foot. 2 new 12 volt Deep Cycle RV batteries. New solenoid ( have tried 3 now). new grounds at generator to frame.
Will not start unless coach is started up. Without coach running, solenoid just buzzes like low battery. But if you cross both large terminals on solenoid, fires right up... 12.6 standing volts at main on solenoid from batteries; voltage stays constant when solenoid activated.
Run coach for only a minute or so with alternator charging batteries at 13.5 to 14 volts and no issues
Acts like a bad solenoid but it isn't..... the circuit for the solenoid engagement wire on the small terminal is the only variable eliminated by jumping the solenoid. There appears to be enough voltage there to start it but the solenoid won't pull it in.
I asked the previous owner and he just assumed the truck had to be started.......
