basement thermostat

My 1005 Gulfstream friendship G8 came without a knob on the basement thermostat
I have no idea which way is up (increases temps)
Can anyone tell me which way increases the temperature?
clockwise or counter clockwixe

I also have a G-8 and I turn mine clockwise. If your as old as I am best to get a magnifying glass climb in the bay and belive or not it is marked with temp readings.
