Hi

I like the Gulf Stream 19RSD Visa Ultra Lite trailer and have seen a few nice used units for sale. My question is, can my 2000 Ford Ranger XLT Ext Cab 4x4 Automatic 4.0l truck pull a Gulf Stream 19RSD Visa Ultra Lite? and can it do it safely?

Ford Rangers are no friend of MPG efficiency either so I wonder if any one has pulled a Gulf Stream 19RSD Visa Ultra Lite with a Ranger and if so what are their opinions and experiences towing this trailer or similar? What kind of MPG could I expect? This trailer looks to be somewhat aerodynamic and Im sure that helps in towing MPG

Thanks

Richard

Here are the tow ratings of the 2011 Ford Ranger models. They might not apply to your 2000 model year.

Ranger, regular cab, 2WD, 4 cylinder, manual 1,500
Ranger, regular cab, 4WD, 4 cylinder, automatic 2,160
Ranger, super cab, 2WD, 4 cylinder, manual 1,360
Ranger, super cab, 2WD, 4 cylinder, automatic 2,020
Ranger, super cab, 2WD, V6, manual 3,340
Ranger, super cab, 2WD, V6, automatic 5,800
Ranger, super cab, 4WD, V6, manual 3,120
Ranger, super cab, 4WD, V6, automatic 5,580

You need to find out what the weight of the trailer you intend to tow, PLUS all equipment/personal items, in other words loaded ready to travel.
Another figure you need to find out is the Combined Weight Rating your Ford Ranger is capable of handling.

The 19RSD will be closed to 3,500 lbs when loaded and ready to go with a tonge weight at +/- 550 lbs.

Your Ranger (V6, 4 litres) will do the job without any problem with a weight distribution hitch and with an auxiliairy transmission cooler.
