I had a situation today. Was driving and the generator Onan Diesel 7.5 KW .
It started changing rpms some, and then turned off. There was a double flashing light on the control button panel.
I tried to restart it..and it "coughed" turned it off. It did start and run for a bit, but then did the same thing.
Stopped, check oil. It was fine. noting the designation for two red flashing light is low oil psi.

I left it off, for a period. Then tried it again...and it ran fine. No fluctuations in rpms..steady..purred like a kitten.
left it running..full load..both ac on, hot water..everything. Ran fine.

Any thoughts, I wonder if I had a air bubble in the fuel line, and it worked out. I mean, low oil pressure (cut out switch)
would make it sputter, and shug and not run, it would simply shut it down.

My thought...thinking maybe the OIL Psi light came on, when it lost rpms, slowed and changed RPMS...
sending that code out.

Fuel is good...has been parked for a period. Filteres were changed a year ago, oil etc. and has not had a lot of hours.

thoughts folks? Ray

Ray, when you said it started to change rpm's, it sounds to me like it started to starve for fuel meaning a plugged up fuel filter.

I have never had any problems with my Onan 7500 Quiet Diesel. Fact the only thing I have ever done is change the oil and filter. Never have changed the fuel filter, don't even know where it is at. I figure as long as it is running good, it is no use messing around with it. But again I do not use the generator that much. Most of my camping has full hookups.

I tend to agree with you. I changed the fuel filter once. Its a wierd shaped things up underneath. open the door...think it unscrewed, but its beeen awhile.
Now..on some diesels..you fill them FIRST before attaching the fuel lines. Less air. I remember there were lines running in and out of it. Wasn't bad.
I do recall it doing this one other time..then cleared up. I may have some air in there. Filter can't be bad..I am very careful about good fuel...or possible water..worked thru?

I agree with your thinking...just needed to put it out there..wonder if some water worked thru? who knows. it seems to purr nice now.

I bet I shook it out...OH..fyi. We have to watch the gear oil levels in front wheels bearings lost all my oil in one side..but you can smell that gear oil smell if its leaking..
All is well..PEACE brothers!

Do you have more than 1/4 tank of fuel? Just throwing that in there.
