Since it sounds like crickets on my previous question about a TM wiring diagram, I think I'll try again with a more focused question:

How does battery charging work on an 06 (or 07-10) Tour Master? Since we have a 3 bank battery system, I'm trying to figure out where to plug in my solar system.

Here is how I THINK charging works for all 3 banks. Am I right?

Chassis (engine) batteries:
- Charge from alternator
- Charge from shore power thru the 12V converter IF you have a Trik-l-Start installed (I don't yet, but soon)

House 12v batteries:
- Charge from alternator
- Charge from shore power thru 12V converter
- Charge from generator (and its 120V output) thru 12V converter

Inverter 6v batteries (used for powering 120v appliances thru inverter):
- Charge from alternator
- Charge from shore power thru Xantrex Inverter/Charger
- Charge from generator thru Xantrex Inverter/Charger

I'm looking to replace the 6v battery bank with a larger one (either AGM or lithium) and install solar, so I really need to understand how things work today and get the wiring right.

Going to answer my own question here -- after about 2 hours with my coach this morning:

Chassis (engine) batteries:
- Charge from alternator -- yes
- Charge from shore power thru the 12V converter IF you have a Trik-l-Start installed -- yes, otherwise, nope.

House 12v batteries:
- Charge from alternator -- yes
- Charge from shore power thru 12V converter -- yes
- Charge from generator (and its 120V output) thru 12V converter -- yes

Inverter 6v batteries (used for powering 120v appliances thru inverter):
- Charge from alternator -- yes
- Charge from shore power thru Xantrex Inverter/Charger - yes
- Charge from generator thru Xantrex Inverter/Charger - yes

I have a 2008 Tour Master 40F Gulfstream that has charging problem. The 2-12 Volts seems to be drained to 11.91 volts after running the engine, The Voltage guage reads 11.61 or slightly below that. display indicates low battery voltage, battery tested good. Trying to figure out the problem, may be the alternator. Battery will hold a charge until the engine is running. the engine idles high and will idle normal of you press on the brake. Once you release the pressure on the brake it idles high again.

Hello
it sounds by your description of the problem you are on the right track. Definitely check the alternator that is most likely your issue. Make sure all the connections are clean and tight you should have 13.1 to 14.1v+- it is possible for the change in rpm when hitting the brake pedal due to the added load on the system when not charging.

Good luck
