What size generator is needed to run a 13,500 bru AC unit?

Sometimes (low altitude, not too terribly hot, and a good soft-start capacitor on the AC unit) you can do it with a 2000 Watt inverter generator. Most people opt for a little more - 2600ish is usually enough for most AC units under most conditions.

Good options:
Two Honda 2000 inverter generators with the parallel kit - also will provide enough for other loads along with the AC (such as microwave)
Yamaha 2400 or 3000 inverter generator

Please do look at dB ratings. Hondas and Yamahas are expensive, but they're also A LOT less intrusive for others. Not all inverter generators are quiet. (e.g. the Yamaha 2800 is NOT quiet.)
