anybody know where to find the replacement lights for the interior steps of a 96 scenic cruiser? They're "rope" type lights.

It might want to try here: http://www.platinumlightinginc.com/

They have 12 volt rope lighting in 3/8" and 1/2" diameter in different colors.

Hi - Happy (upcoming) Thanksgiving!

GS seems to use Vista Manufacturing for their bead / rope lights. I found Vista's website Http://www.vistamfg.com has all sorts of products. You need to match up their extensive list with what you need.

Perhaps they can help with a call. Their phone number is 574-264-0711.

They are:
Vista Manufacturing
52864 Lillian Ave.
Elkhart, IN 46514

Good luck,, let us know what you find out.

Concerning my search for the 96 Gulf Stream stair lights:
I was unable to find a supplier to replace theses lights, but...

These light-bars are actually a square 1/4" x 1/4" tube mounted into metal strips, which ultimately are mounted into the stair treads. One of them is aprox 22" long with 6 mini-lamps and the other 18" long with 5 mini-lamps.
The plastic tubes, which in my case, are orange or amber colored, can be removed from the metal strips. (they popped right out with no problem)
The wiring with mini-lamps can then be slid out of the tube.
I was able to replace the blown bulbs.
I cut the leads to these blown bulbs, and soldered the "new bulb" leads in their place. (note: when cutting the leads to the blown bulbs, snip them as close to the bulb as possible, so as to leave enough of the leads necessary to splice the "new bulb" leads)
After testing the system with a 12volt auto battery, I carefully slid the system back into the tube. The whole job took me about 90 minutes.
The replacement bulbs were from RadioShack. Part # 272-1141. $1.49 each.
If anyone needs to do this procedure, and needs a little guidance, let me know.

Thanks for the info. I have a 97 Scenic Cruiser with the very same problem. I have searched the sites listed in this thread with no luck. I am a do-it-yourself person. I always carry an electrical repair tool box with my soldering iron. This is a project that I can and will do myself. I had not thought of just replacing the individual bulbs.
Thanks again for the information including the part numbers.
