I just bought a 2006 GS MT-40 and for the life of me I can not figure out where or how to turn on the inverter so when I'm not hooked to shore power to get the 120volt to work.

I can see the charge light come on when the gen set is on and its charging the golf cart batteries but I can not figure out how to invert to 120 in the coach.

any help would be priceless

Not sure about your year and model, but on my 2007 TourMaster T40C the control for the inverter and its readout panel is above the center dash in the entertainment electronics cabinet. It is nowhere near the other panel in the mid-coach that deals with water tank levels and house battery charge.

Please note that the inverter runs on the 4 each 6 volt golf cart style batteries connected in series/parallel to make a very high amperage 12 volt stack...in my coach these are under the windshield behind the pullout body panel on the front body cap. The inverter itself is in the bay under the driver side window...

The house lights/water pump/etc. run of the two "house" batteries in the bay near the curb side rear slide and just behind the rear wheel. That is also where you will find the remaining two batteries -- the two parallel engine cranking 12 volt batteries.

Hope this helps some...

If your inverter is a Xantrex of around 2006 vintage -- your control panel likely looks like the one pictured here: https://www.westmarine.com/buy/xantrex--freedom-458-basic-remote-panel-10-15-5v-dc--167796?recordNum=19

Just press the INVERT button to switch the function to inverting the 12 volt storage battery voltage to power the 120 volt circuits connected to this inverter, such as a residential refrigerator. There is a transfer switch in the inverter that will pass the generator power to these loads if your generator is running.

my coach is a 2006 TM-40 with a Benz

no luck on the cabinet with the DVD and Sat controls- I agree that the picture is what I'm looking for.

the inverter has a plug going into the remote outlet so I have to assume the control panel is somewhere!

In my coach the panel was on the right rear wall of that cabinet with the satellite dish and DVD player. It is low and just to the right of the power outlets, so it may be obscured by equipment if a prior owner added or changed out entertainment components... I have swapped out my Xantrex and its control for a Magnum with pure sine wave output, so I can't confirm exact control input sequences to get the inverter programmed to run the 115 volt AC loads.

Can you post a picture of the interior of your cabinet? Maybe that would help me suggest where else to look...

I checked my records and the original Xantrex was a Freedom 458. Here is a link to a PDF of the manual if you did not get one with your coach:
http://www.xantrex.com/documents/Inverter-Chargers/Freedom-458/Freedom458(445-0193-01-01_rev-2).pdf

The control panel manual is here:

Sorry for the long links...

My 2000w F 458 died. No ac out. You Tubo videos
Showed how to setup start and run...
Hold setup till leds change, press invert
To move lighted led to lowest one, then
Plug in a 40w or more light bulb. The load sensor
Should see a need for power and come on.
Mine just charges batteries. The temp sensor
Has been known to short power into controls
Where it doesn’t belong. Don’t connect to batteries.
Back-feeding of other power may be a problem
I’m told, still checking... Transfer sw. should have
A delay to keep sources separate.

Now working on the xantrex inverter. Charges, but no ac out.
Heat monitor unplugged, to be replaced and mounted away from
Electrical terminals! It’s not to be connected, or may fry inverter, maybe
Batteries if it gets corroded, mounted to the positive post.
My new 2500 will replace the 2000 so I can rebuild the old one.
‘Strange that the new one came with a temp sensor, still on a terminal ring.

Would they sell hip waders, pre-filled with water?
