Winterizing with an ice maker

Not to get to far ahead being its mid summer but is there much to winterizing if you have an automatic ice maker in the fridge?

The Ice Maker in my coach has caused extensive damage due to bad winterizing job. The biggest mistake was blowing compressed air in the tube that runs from the inside unit to the solenoid valve. Mine is a side by side fridge/freezer and it weighs 260 lbs. If you take the hose off at the valve and just blow gently thru it it will clear any water. It will probably be dry. I am now going to remove the solenoid valve and keep it indoors over the winter. I cant seem to get all of the water out. I have found generics that cost under $20 that work just great they just mount a little different. A friend and I slid the fridge out far enough to balance it on a milk crate and a block of wood and I carefully coated the nipple on the thru wall fixture with Gorilla Glue and then I trimmed the rubber hose and pushed it back on. Now the damage done...


See I have only owned this coach for 2 years or so. The hose came off way in the past. The previous owner kept the coach under a covered pad and had a full hookup. Every time the ice maker that "never did work" asked for a shot of water it poured out behind the fridge. The fridge is mounted over the furnace, the furnace is over the hot water heater. The worst damage was to the wooden sub-flooring. I have spent a lot of time and money repairing the coach and there is much more to be done. I could go on and on but it does run great. Just hit 13000 miles.
