Do you turn off the propane while driving or leave on? I have heard some people do and some don't. I am asking because of the fridge on battery while driving or on propane? Help, thanks.

I leave it on because I can't see a good reason to shut it off. If I were to have a situation where I had to be away from power for a long time the propane would last longer for the fridge than the batteries. It's mostly about whether you want to run your generator or not and trip length. The Captain has to manage the resources.:cool:

Your fridge isn't gonna stay cold unless you run the generator or let it run on propane. It draws too much power to run on battery alone. It just needs battery to manage the electronics that control the propane function.

I can run mine for 3 hours on my invertor.

Right. And not every coach has an invertor for 110. I use mine selectively and not very often. It's nice having that option when on the road. Microwave a piece of pizza. Run the coffeemaker. Depends on if you want to start up the generator or just run stealth off the batteries.

I have heard pros and cons due to safety reasons. But, I have always run the propane during trips with never a problem encountered except sometimes remembering to turn the fridge off during fueling and more so remembering to turn it back on after. We are proud owners of a 2016 BT Cruiser 5230

Technically, you should turn off the propane while driving. In case of an accident and if a leak should occur, a fire could result. Also, it is illegal to drive through a tunnel with the valves open on a propane tank. I have a travel trailer with a 1500 watt power inverter, it runs the fridge just fine plus the batteries stay charged while driving.

I always turn off my fridge before I stop to refuel so there is no fire around the gas pump. It only takes a minute and then I turn it back on after I leave the station.

I've always left the propane on. No problems. Now if my gasoline fill was directly under refrigerator, I might turn off refer, but wouldn't worry if I forgot. Chances of a disaster are slim. Don't worry, be happy

I leave my refrigerator running on Propane unless I am getting the Propane Tank filled. Then I turn it on as soon as the Propane tank is filled.

My rig is a 2004 BT5211 on a Ford E350 Chassis.
