View Full Version : 1999 Bigfoot jacks won't work

The last time we camped, the leveling jacks would not work. I could hear the solenoids click, but no pumps. Bigfoot customer service's only suggestion was that batteries must be fully charged. I have checked this, they read charged. Any other suggestions?

Did you check the pump reservoir dipstick?

Looks like they can't even find their way back here let alone find their dipstick!:D I was looking forward to learning more about these levelers because we have them also. Ours have worked great the whole time we owned the motorhome. Just drift off the switch a tiny bit once in a while.

Sorry but I do not get to check emails everyday. My Bigfoot levelers are separate units on each jack and do not have a central reservoir with a dipstick.

My guess is that you’ve solved this problem by now but there is a leveling system isolation solenoid located in your electrical compartment. I’ve had to replace this solenoid numerous times. It’s easy to diagnosis with a simple continuity tester to determine if there is power across this solenoid when it is enegised. Numerous times I’ve had to jump this solenoid with jumper cables in order to get 12v power to the jacks.

Thanks for the suggestions Restorium. My unit has separate pumps on each jack, no common pump and reservoir. I have had the breaker trip once before and I have already checked that. I have not had the time or weather for me to get back to the problem yet. I will post the answer to my problem when I have had more time. Thanks for all suggestions, Greg

I bet we have exactly the same set up since we both have 99's. Do yours ever drift off the switch and give you a red light? Just tap the switch and you get a green light.

I don’t want to get in the middle of your thread, but I too have experienced that “drift”. My GS has an ignition interlock and when it won’t start that’s the first thing I look for. The condition in the past has been mostly associated with the jack that now has developed an obvious hydraulic leak. T

My coach sits for several weeks at a time. Yes, when I start it I have one or two lights and the beeper. Pushing any of the buttons does not stop them. The beeper times out.

Sounds electrical to me.

Had the time to trouble shoot today. Upon rechecking the high amp breaker, I found that it was tripped. (The little reset lever was down.) After resetting it, it all works again. Thanks for suggestions.

Put a meter/ test light on the output lead of the solenoid, maybe clicking but not connecting. You can also jump solenoid and see if it makes put run for quick test; but agree on checking fluid level, at that age, leaks are a concern.
