Front RV air conditioning seems to cycle fan/compressor repeatedly even when thermostat set to off position when hooked to shore power at home. Won’t stay off. Was working correctly previously.

Also having cycling issues when on generator.

Sounds like a bad thermostat.

I agree. I just put digitals in my coach.

Not sure it’s the switch, I can turn system on and off at the switch. And turn on or off fan also. But then after the system shuts down, a few minutes later it sounds like the (not the fan) compressor comes on and moans for a few minutes and then goes off again and then repeats the cycle.

It does this regardless of generator or shore power.

Try taking the front thermostat off of the wall and see if itstill cycles like that. If so it's probably the control board in the unit but suspect the thermostats too.

Put some digital ones in there. It's easy

I did some looking and found that this is 'failure mode' for RV air conditioners. Many are doing it and they need service. All you can do is unhook the thermostat and if it still does it then you need to have the unit serviced. There are some controls on the compressor that are malfunctioning. There's a fire hazard so don't ignore the problem.

Thank you for the tip. I have pulled the fuse and will get it serviced. Thanks to all for taking the time to reply. See you on the road!

Is the compressor starting? Or is it laboring at start? It could be bad capacitors, trying to start, but not then repeating the cycle
