Bathroom Door

Good morning all.
Bit of an unusual one: ages ago en route to a State Park, my bathroom door came apart. I guess it had been swinging in motion and simply collapsed. Thinking it would be an easy replacement, I chucked it in a dumpster and continued on my way (it is just me and the two boys, they thought a towel hanging instead of the door was hilarious).
To my horror, the door is a lot harder to replace than expected. I thought it was just a standard size but apparently not.
The dimensions are 24 x 72 inches. Any suggestions?

Standard at the home stores is 24 x 80. Get a solid one and you can trim 8" off of it.

Thanks! I did look at doors, but the one that fell apart was more a closet door, ie very small and light.
I wondered if perhaps I had missed something, perhaps not.

RV bathroom doors are much thinner, 1 and a quarter inch or so, than a residential door (even the one on my diesel pusher needed a special knob set to work on the thinner door...) so be sure to accommodate that dimension as well as width and height. Did you keep all the hardware from your broken door?


May need to get a used door from a RV wrecking yard...

If you can find a closet door the correct thickness, you can have a cabinet carpenter cut it to height off the top and then glue in a new top stile inside the faces. No one will see the patch from above and the side latch reinforcement will still be at the correct height.

A handy person could get a sheet of 1/4" birch or oak and a sheet of the right size plywood for a core to make a really nice door the right thickness.

We were originally going to just repaint our bathroom door but after taking it off noticed one side was in pretty bad shape from the PO having a dog. I had taken measurements and seems like 24x72ish was about right. I found a closet door that was 24x80 and trimmed as much off the top as I could get away with and then took the rest off the bottom. Being a "hollow" core door I then had to take a stick of poplar that was a bit oversized for the core interior and jammed it into the bottom then glued and brad nailed it in.

My original door was nearly 3 inches off the floor and this new one is more like 1/2"-1" instead.
