Sewer drain outlet too low

We have a 2018 BT2450. The sewer drain outlet behind the driver rear tire hangs about 6" above the pavement.

This looks like an accident just waiting to happen where a bump or steep rise in the road could wipe it out.

Has anyone figured how to re-plumb the drain point to have more ground clearance?

Hey there, Yes it is low , I havent hit anything yet with mine. Had to install air bags on the rear axle to help carry the load, tired of dragging the rear hitch all the time . I thought about taking it apart and separating the black/gray piping .It would gain some clearance , then would have to move the hose .

it's all plastic asb, so easy glue job,.. but, I looked at my 2020, the lowest part is above the bottom of the fuel tank... so that would hit first...also it drains toward the rear tire.. it's all flat so it couldn't go up higher..is yours the same?

I never thought of separating to 2 connectors and that could raise the clearance quite a bit. Thanks!

It sounds like GS made some improvements in the 2020 models. My 2018 sewer outlet hangs a good 3-4" below the fuel tank and the rear skid guards. It would be nice if they did a recall.

I could gain 3" if I cut out the final 45 degree angle and downward drop and just leave it come out horizontally. Not sure if there is a down side to that.

Well a picture is definitely a big help. It looks like they did a major rework of the outlet for the 2020. FYI-here are 2 pics of what they did in the 2018!

the 2020 has the moride set up, the tanks are V bottom also..and the outlet come out the sides

if it was me. I would cut the elbow off the end and just put a new end on it and make it come straight out, that would give a lot more ground clearance

Does the outlet possibly swivel ? Can you rotate it higher when not in use? Many people don't realize that they do swivel.

yep, most MAIN outlets actually swivel, or rotate, to give you more options...

it looks like it's already been swiveled down, so I'll bet you can turn it to point even up, if you wish.

no, mine is all ABS fittings that have been glued in place. The only thing that moves is the cap covering the final 45 degree elbow.

I would cut that sucka off and glue a new hose connect fitting on it. Might have to bend over further to hook up the hose. That dangling outlet looks like a nightmare ready to happen.
The manufacturers must have left their intelligence at home the day they engineered that one.
On one of our older coaches the water tank had a spigot that stuck straight out the side so you could get some water while you were outside. One day while maneuvering down a tight camping road a tree took it right off. Our precious water supply running out onto the ground. Had to quickly find the right size piece of wood and plug the hole. It's definitely not going to be pretty if you rip that whole elephants trunk off your camper.

I still think that the hanger section swivels, though many new owners don't think so because it can sometimes take some effort the turn it... I also don't see any glue on that section like the others.

I still think I would do something to eliminate the chance it swivels down or I forget to move it up.
It's just the price you would pay for a mistake in that situation.

FYI-I cut out the 45 degree elbow and directly cemented in the hose connector fitting. It raised the plumbing about 4 inches. Definitely a good improvement. thanks everyone for your help and suggestions!
