When we bought our used rv the ad said 1999 gulfstream 8342 SYG and that is what is on the sticker. On the side of the rv it says sunvoyager its gas and has a Ford v10. But the closest that I can find to it when trying to look at floor plans ect is the 1999 model 8362 MXG but it has afew slight differences
The 1999 sunvoyager brochure does not show a 8342 SYG. So what do we have?

I can provide pictures if that helps

Check for that model in a 1997 or 1998. Just because it’s titled as a 1999 doesn’t mean that it was built that year. Law allows for up to three years difference between year of chassis and title year. Had this same issue on ours. Titled as a 2006 but model number is from 2005.

Quite often the chassis is titled at a year older than the completed coach...look for a 2000 year model brochure as well.

On motorhomes, obviously the chassis built first and shipped to the mh manufacturer. Once the house portion is completed on that chassis, the motorhome manufacturer sets the title year. Chassis year doesn’t matter for registration purposes and could be up to three years older than the title year.

It is very difficult to locate sales brochures with floor plans that far back in time.

I had to use VIN to find out the exact chassis I have. I found out it was a year earlier than I had believed since the RV was said to be an 2004.

You will never find a coach wiring diagram. Apparently each vehicle is built 'on the fly' and not documented.

The 98 model wouldn't have come with a V10 in it.

If you have the 8.1 Chevy V8 consider yourself lucky. I'm a Ford man but I really love the 8.1 in this application. I have a 5.4 DOHC in my 2000 E250 van. I like it too. By design the Fords like a lot more rpm than the Chevy. They sound like they are going to blow up in my opinion. My Chevy produces it's best torque at 3450 rpm. The Tritons are more like 5500 rpm for peak torque (maybe higher)

After more research it looks like ours could actually be a 1997 gulfstream sun Voyager 8342 SYD except that we have the Ford v10 engine
