I have a recently purchased 2006 Gulf Stream voyager diesel.
I haven't taken it on a trip yet and I’m curious as to what kind of fuel mileage it gets. Anyone know?

It will be driving style and road/load/wind/grade dependent, but on the highway you should be able to get at least 8 MPG or better if not towing and keeping under 65 MPH. Which engine is in your coach? My 2007 Tour Master with the Mercedes turbo diesel got just a bit better mileage than the Cummins version...

Don’t know the Voyager, but I’m at 32K lbs towing another 4,600. Cat C7 and run between 7.5 and 8.

I have the C& Cat in a 41 ft G& Friendship. 8mpg if you keep your foot out of it. 6mpg if towing trailer or auto.

We have a 2007 Sun Voyager and at minimum get 8 mpg towing a Chevy Colorado. It does depend on road conditions, wind and how heavy a foot one has. We have gotten a much as 10 miles to the gallon on flat road doing 60 mph.

Hi Dennis. I have a GS Scenic Cruiser with 400hp Cummins. We tow a 27ft trailer 10‘000lb. Average 7mpg at 62 mph.

We have a 35ft 2007 that we bought used. Tow a Toyota Sienna on a car carrier. I keep a spreadsheet of all our fill-ups. Total Gallons 4112.373 over 23089 miles since 28 Aug 2015, giving an avg mileage of 5.61 mpg. That does includes a 6000 mile cross country trip, but mostly annual trips to AZ, and weekend trips in southern Calif.

Kathryn,

That mileage figure sounds like your coach has a gas engine -- is that right? Most diesels get a bit more than that for fuel economy...

You are quite right, I totally forgot to mention that. Still, for all the weight including the toad, it's pretty good for gas - we were expecting about 4mpg. BTW, we have a Banks system that gives us up to 10 horsepower when needed.

Yes it is very acceptable for a gas rig of that size when towing -- just wanted to confirm the particulars since the original poster of this thread was asking what to expect from hie diesel...

I have the 8.3L Cummins towing a Jeep Wrangler 2 Door and get 9.2MPG at 66MPH and 8.5MPG at 68MPH. Changing the air filter made a huge difference, the filter looked clean but was very old.

Changing to a different brand of air filter does make a big difference. When I bought my coach brand new in April 2003 it come with a Farr air filter and I noticed that the vacuum gage would go right up, so next I got a Wix from Napa and it was doing the same thing and the fuel consumption was not all that great around 7 mpg. So I switched again and went with Racor order through the internet and man it made a big difference. The vacuum gage stayed down as it is suppose to with a new filter and it showed that the engine was breathing a lot better, the take off was quicker and the MPG went up to around 9 mpg. So your fuel usage does depend a lot on how that engine is breathing. Turbo's need lots of air and it comes right through that air filter.

Reminds me to check mine. It has been a long time.

I can remember early on with this rig, we escaped to high altitude to get away from Socal smoke for a few days.
When I started the rig to go home, really hard to start, loads of exhaust smoke.

Yup, needed a new filter, the altitude was the final straw.

My 02 has the Cat 330 and I'm very pleased overall. I drive for mileage and routinely saw 10 MPG towing a Prius. 32 K lbs. approx.

The Allison shifts to 6th gear right at 62 MPH. I get her in 6th and back off to 60, I'm at peak torque around 60-62 MPH, superb economy.

I have always run power service fuel treatment to boost cetane.
