5240 murphy bed

Can some answer these questions on the Murphy Bed in the 5240:
Can it be used with the slide retracted?
Can the bed be stored made up?
How comfortable is the mattress?

Quick answer......No but there is always an exception to the rule.

No because when the bed is in the down position the hinged part of the mattress will not lay flat and you cannot pull out the plywood under support.

Eception to No....You are under 4' tall or have no trouble sleeping in the fetal position.

Yes you can fully make up the bed and stow it for travel. We use a thick fitted mattress pad, set of sheets and a blanket. We put on the pillow cases for the pillows and store them on each side of the mattress on the ledge when bed is retracted. Don't push the pillows to far back as they will fall behind the mattress.

A storage tip. Before retracting the jack knife sofa completly we place two full size camper chairs side by side and store 3 additional chairs (the type that fully collapse and store in the round bag) then retract sofa till snug.

Gotta love all that "Extra Space" in the 5240.
