Good morning everyone. I have a 2002 GS Sun Voyager that did not come with the inverter option, but does have the remote inverter switch which is weird. I want to add an inverter, but not sure how to wire it in and GS could not give me a wiring diagram. Does anyone have a coach that has this option and can take some pics on how and where they installed it. Any help would be appreciated

Thank you.

You have to decide just what you want your inverter to power when on battery power. Then you need an inverter that has 120VAC pass-through (not a normal option for off the shelf inverters). At this point you would size the inverter based on first choice (only the TV, then ~ 2 Amp average, about a 500W inverter minimum, P=IE). Inverter would then be installed on that circuit. When on shore power, 120VAC is passed through, on battery power, inverter provides 120VAC (of course it needs to be properly connected to the batteries).

Is best to get a qualified Tech to do this for you. Amateur installs cause fires.

Xantrex is the way to go. Great tech support and quality products. Having a qualified electrician do the addition would be your safest option.

'adding' an inverter is not as simple as it may first appear - with a 'whole house' type your wiring schematic is different, and in many cases your breaker box has to be designed to handle this 'extra' power to the very items that you want it to power, otherwise if you go only 'directly' from the inverter to those items, what happens then when you plug into Shore Power? Those items now are still on the inverter. Now your Battery Charger becomes very important - many whole house inverters integrate the charger for that very reason. Pass thru power and Battery Charging all in a single unit.

of course, you can also find simpler ways to 'accomplish' what you wish - such as a simple power inverter off the shelf at wally world.
