We have a 2007 Gulf Stream Tour Master and the serpentine belt broke. Trying to diagnose problem however cannot find the manual. Does anyone have a MBE900 Service Manual or can you direct me in how to find one. We have looked on the internet with no luck.

Here is the manual that I have -- it says that the belt should be changed every 100,000 miles or 2000 hours. How many miles do you have on your coach?

Thank you. Only 61,000 miles. Serpentine belt snapped. I have to see if either tensioners or possibly a/c compressor is frozen. Unusual that is snapped. Hard time finding anything specific to this engine to get up in compartment and see what I have to disconnect to get at it.

Attached is something I found specific to the belt routing and replacement...looks to be a exce3rpt of the service manual (not the owner's manual I attached earlier...)

Thanks Chuck. Yes I found that too but needed to see how to get the radiator out of the way since I can only access from the bottom. There is a pulley or bracket I cannot see towards the top right of the engine as I was going to try and slip the belt over the fan blade and work it back onto the pulleys & tensioners but cannot get past the bracket that I cannot see how to pass it. I'm going to buy the manual. It has to be something silly that is in the way. Thanks again!

I have a 2008 TM with the Mercedes engine and was able to replace both belts from the drivers side of the coach standing inside the bay next to the engine. I wouldn't think you need to do any radiator removal. I had found a "this is how to replace belts" pdf someone did that described how to loosen a couple spacers and walk the belts over the fan. If I can find it I will post it later. There is a double bolt spacer on the lower curb side you have to take out and a single bolt spacer to loosen to free up the large cast iron plate the fan pulley mounts on.

Scott, that would be most helpful. I have gone in drivers side by the turbo but cannot seem to figure out how to get belt on the top pulley as there is definitely something in the way that has to come undone.

Often when belts snap it is because Idler or Device BEARINGS SEIZED, so check that before installing new?

Incidentally, when I did this I was in the process of replacing my failed Horton clutch and fan with a direct drive aluminum block spacer and completely different fan. That thread is in the Freightliner forum on iRV2 also with some pics. However, the instructions should work to get the belt off just the same. I found that doc somewhere on iRV2 site. Note: there is not a lot of room in there but it is doable from the road side and much easier if you remove the air filter canister first.

REMINDER to the Novice that often the easiest and ONLY way to do a job on many vehicles is to remove items that are in the way, hopefully designed/ installed to make THAT part of job easy. OTOH, THERE are some (Ford) factory detailed $15/15-min jobs that factory details as complicated $1k/8-hr+, and BEST is to abandon the small part, install new in new location and go on down the road. I.e. If air filter in the way, remove for access :-)

Thank you, this gave me some insight as to the locations of the bolts to loosen. Was able to get the new belt on but coach will not start due to a/c compressor/ clutch is frozen. Once removed the vehicle will start so that is how I determined whether the a/c was frozen & cannot turn by hand either. Guess we're going to the mechanic as I do not know how hard it is to do a/c. Would be willing to attempt already went this far.
