Your Prodigy should tell you if you have brakes or not, just like a disconnected trailer, it displays OC, now that won't tell you if you have 1 brake or all 4, just a starting point, the same with pulling the break away switch, if the battery is good. I would contact Gulfstream directly. It's not a complex system, probably a bad connection, if Gulfstream is still using quick connectors on brake wiring, I would change them anyway.
It's a connector that you squeeze with pliers and it pierces the wire !
