The laminated table did not shrink -- maybe the cabinets have shifted slightly. Looks like an easy fix is to add another trim piece at the cabinet edge...
From the scuff marks in the middle image, it looks like the table fell through while being used as a sleeping surface -- hopefully you were just testing the configuration and not actually reclining on it at the time.
