Hi rdlamb,
You really makes me wish I have gotten the Cummins. I have a Cat C7. And the batteries are in parallel. But your setup makes much more sense. If the chassis batteries are dead, at least you can start the generator and plug in a charger to charge up the chassis batteries. I'll have to look into changing the generator to use the house battery.
