I change mine in the spring and again in the fall. This gives me fresh oil for the summer and fresh oil for winter as it sits a lot in winter!
It is probably over kill but never had any problems with past MH 2 prior to this one had 104000 miles when I sold it the person that bought it changed the valve covers said it was spotless in side the motor. So I guess the maintance paid off.
