Default Update 4/2011

Well, its been a long time since I have given any update on what is happening at the Gulf Stream Owners RV Forum. So, here goes.

First of all, I wanted to say that I am super excited about how much we have grown over the years. Much thanks goes out to all the regulars that are very active on here helping out people and sharing their experiences. Without all of you guys, the Gulf Stream RV community would have a rough time for sure. I am happy that I have been able to provide a place where everyone can share all their experiences: positive, negative, helpful, dreadful

Many of you may have noticed that the site is undergoing some visible changes. Recently due to a security breach, the site was compromised and had to be rebuilt from the ground up. When I did it, I decided to upgrade to a newer version of the software that runs this community, PHPBB. Huge thanks goes out to David Bott who helped me get things going again with only minimal downtime!

Some of you might also notice from time to time we get posts that are not germane to Gulf Stream RVs or RVs at all for that matter. Sometimes it is for cell phone, golf, or even porn offers. This stuff is called site-spam and is often the work of computer "bots" as opposed to real people. We try everything in our power to prevent this from happening, and it is not that hard block the bots, but sometimes real people are actually creating the accounts and posting these offers on our site. Unfortunately these have to be dealt with on a one-by-one basis. If you see such a post, there are two options you can take to report it: First, you can simply copy the URL and send it in a PM to gsadmin (me) or even easier, just click the little triangle with an exclamation mark on it...this will report the post.

Finally, the costs associated with this site are supported by advertising. I know, we would all like to not have advertising in our faces, but this is the only way I know how to make things work. I will try and make it not too obtrusive. If you want to support the effort though, please click on the links from time to time and check them out. Or, better yet, if you are planning on buying something from CampingWorld, please click on one of the site banners as a way to get to their site. By doing that, our site gets a percentage of the sale.

Thanks again to all that support this site!

Terence
