Some times it is what it is. If you have to go that far to tighten the connection, if it were me I would extend the pipe using, the “Sharkbite” press together fittings. It looks to me as of you will have to keep the screw to get her fittings because the copper line is smaller going to your sink. It may be a great time to ask the person that uses the kitchen what they want for a new faucet (one with a spray wand) that’s what I did! And just ask my wife, she’ll tell you “I just love it”
