Default The Perils Of A New Owner Part 1 (Don't Reply To This One)

Well for those of you know the perils I have had with my 2006 Tour Master. And those inquiring minds that want to know here it is.......

To Recap:

Bought it in June in Jacksonville, Fl and drove it to Oklahoma from the dealership. No big event. Then I took it to a festival and it was really hot both inside and outside the coach. I noticed that there wasn't hardly any airfolw from the front four ducts of the coach. the bedroom and bathroom area had good flow but it steadily declined as it progressed forward.

Closing the bedroom ducts helped a little in the middle but not in the front there all the windows and windshields were.

Then low and behold, no cool air anymore. Short story the basement RVP Products (Coleman) heatpump failed due to a bad weld on one of the freon lines on the compressor.

This was on a Friday evening and I was stuck at the event all weekend.
Good thing was we were using the coach as a lounge/office and not to sleep in.

I had Wheelen's RV fix the A/C unit but still no airflow up front.

All throughout the process I'm talking to my salesman at Dick Gore's RV World in Jacksonville who did a great job of acting like a dealership that was 700 miles away. "Your best bet is to find a Gulfstream dealer in your area to do warranty work"....Lot of *(&#(&U$# Help from those guys..........

After the festival I call McClain's RV in Oklahoma City who's site claims to be a GS warranty center. I was immediately informed by their service manager that they would not do warranty work on any GS product that they didn't sell..... After some prodding he fianlly told me it was becuse GS was very Slow Pay on Warranty issues.. Hmmm.

I use the internet and find Motorhome Specialists who are GS warranty as well in Fort Worth, (Alvarado) Texas. Talk to the service manager there and he says...There is an issue with the new Tour Master and they offer a roof mounted booster to fix the problem.

Please refer to my comment about Dick Gore's position and advice above...

So now I go to camping world which is McClains RV in OKC as well and they say "Sure We can add a roof Unit" So I schedule, and deliver the coach. Also by the way add some of those fantastic remote fans and install some of those smoke tinted vent covers while you're up there.
Camping World Says Yes Sir!!!

A couple of days later CW calls and says. "Oh, We can't add a roof unit you don't have any power to run to the unit...No vent hole to put it in etc. etc.etc...

Now I'm furious........You just have to know me to understand the rath I can exact on idiotic behaviour.......

I start calling GS Customer Service....most of you know how that starts out.....

I'm on a trip to Chicago so they say bring it to Elkhart and they will come over and look at it.... I'm thinking Cool......

I meet Cheryl and Lori from GS at MasterTech to look at the coach. They agree there is a problem and were very helpful with the situation.

I finish my trip and get back home only to have Lori to call me and tell me that my coach came off the line prior to GS Discovering the duct flow problems and didn't pre-wire my coach for the booster.

Well I got a little help from a "Mystery Angel" who I give credit to putting the ball back in play. Low and behold, I get another call from GS and they ask me if I can bring it back to Mastertech to have the engineer who designed the roof for my model find a solution....guaranteed.

Off to MasterTech it went and six weeks later the Air was fixed with a new rooftop booster unit installed and ducted into the system.

MasterTech fixed a few other New coach wrinkles while it was there as well as added a few aftermarket items for me as well for an extra 10 Grand in sales for them.

One of the warranty items was to fix a bracket in the bedroom slide that a couple of screws had came out. They moved the bracket and re-tensioned the cables on the bedroom slide.

On the trip home while stopped for dinner I go to the bedroom, press the out switch on the slide and SNAP..... The cable they worked on ripped out at its crimps on both the upper and lower brackets.....

Deep breath and slow count to ten and I physically pull it in and have dinner. halfway home and not going back to Elkhart I resolve to have it fixed in Oklahoma.

Now there are these ads that post at the top of this website somewhat like classifieds. I clicked on the one that advertised Dave's Clarmore RV which is in Oklahoma. I see that They are actually in Oklahoma and a Gulfstream dealer....knowing the McClain policy on GS warranty repair. I happen to have an attorney who offices in Clarmore, OK. being a small town his firend's father-in-law is the parts manager there and so a couple of calls and PRESTO.... Bring it in....!!!

I take it up there for them to look at and order the parts and such. It is only about two hours from home so the wife and I make the afternoon trip for their look and order session.

Now being in my 40's I have the wherewithall to buy a coach but not the time to pay full attention to it so I have a retired part time RV'er whom I know and trust do a lot of the upkeep and PM on my coach. So I had him take the coach back today..for the repair...........

To Be Continued...........
