Hi -
This is our first travel trailer, and first slide out. We upgraded from a pop up.
We have a question regarding "dry camping" and using the slide out. Can you operate the slide on marine battery power? Or, the electric brake connection?
Thanks in advance!

You should be able to use the battery to work the slide.

Brake connection, NO!

If you vehicle was wired with a battery power line to charge the trailer battery while traveling, then you can have it connected and use it to charge the battery and work the slide
at the same time.

You can deploy the slide while still plugged into your tow vehicle. You will be using the tow vehicles battery, saving a little more of your campers battery for camping.

Thanks Tupfam. We are going to do a test camp a few miles from the dealer when we pick it up so if we have issues, they can assist. I'm looking forward to our new adventures! I see you are in CT. So are we! Any great camping spots you'd like to share?

We like Deer Haven in Lisbon. It's mostly older people so it's kind of a quiet place. The owner is a really nice lady and they try hard to get families in there with some planned activities. Our kids stay busy riding bikes and fishing. They have a small playground and a mini golf course. The only downfall is they don't have a pool, only a pond. We also went to Charlie Brown CG in Ashford(I think) with a camping club for a fall rally. We stayed in a field around a pavilion which I really didn't like, but we saw some really nice sites that backed up to a river. Again, the kids stayed busy fishing and riding bikes. Our favorite is West Thompson Lake CG. It is an Army Corp of Engineers facility with 11 water/electric sites and 11 primitive sites. It is a VERY quiet and family friendly CG. No planned activities so the kids like to(you guessed it)fish and ride bikes and hike. We have only been to a couple of resort type CG's and really didn't care for them. Good luck with your new trailer. Feel free to PM me with any questions.
