Default Hot water heater maintenance

I have a 2007 BT Cruiser. #5230. I need to find out where is the drainage plug for a suburban sw6d water heater. Is it underneath the rig? If so I cannot see it looking underneath from outside. I have to change the rod. It looks very corroded from the outside. I have not changed it in the 4 yrs I have had it. Don't know when it was last done. thanks

My drain plug is 1 1/16”, I use a 6 pt socket, 3” extension to remove and gently tighten. I also use Teflon tape on the threads to seal them.

Default water heater drain

If you have removed the anode rod from the heater you have also found the drain!

The drain plug is the rod. Be sure the WH is off, cool, and not under water pressure. An oddball 1 1/16 inch socket fits over the end. There is also available a cheap $4 plastic rinse nozzle that fits on the end of a garden hose to help flush out the crud from the bottom of the tank.

SHOULD NEED NO WD40 but does need ANNUAL removal/ tank cleaning of anode materials and mineral deposits/ anode inspection (replace if 85% gone).

My replacement anode came attached to the threaded plug.....remove the old, screw in the new one. Easy!
