Default What is this?

When I start my ISC 8.3 Cummins, this thing pushes air out of the clear plastic piece. This is all connected to the ball looking thing. What is all this and what does it do? Thanks in advance! This motorhome is a Gulf Stream Yellowstone.

That looks like a vaccum pump.. that black ball should have other tubes going to other functions like a heat or a/c door in your ductwork, but knowing more about you rv would help give you a more definitive answer, good luck I hope this helps!! They can also be a type of purge system for various applications.

Hello again.
To further answer your question, yes it is a vaccum pump doorman and cordone both make those pumps and they will function as I mentioned earlier it could operate a water valve to circulate water for heat. Since the engine is in the rear of the pusher it's much more efficient to mount a 12v pump in the front for lack of vacuum from the engine.. I hope this is the answer you need. Happy camping!

The Ball is VACUUM RESERVOIR, so suspect the other is a VACUUM PUMP, so sounds like it is doing what it should? Some engines/ systems (diesel?) use an electric vacuum pump instead of using engine manifold for vacuum source.

I'd suggest following the small tube coming out of the vacuum reservoir (black ball) that goes through the wall to the left in the picture. That's the line that is feeding vacuum to something. Like the others said, could be controlling a thing like the doors on your AC/Heater vents under the dash. Something engine vacuum normally controls if the engine was closer. Follow that line, you'll find out exactly what the pump is there for.

The BALL is a VACUUM RESERVOIR, and the other device is the ELECTRIC VACUUM PUMP. I know the Econoline uses VAC for dash AC/HEAT controls, but unsure WHY/WHAT on F53 CHASSIS?
