Question Solar connection.

Previous post. "Would like to add a solar suitcase to my 2003, 5230. I have a 2 battery bank." Well I opened the battery box topped them off with distilled water and then realized they are connected in series.
They are 6 volt batteries.
They are connected with one cable, positive on battery one to negative on battery two. (=12 volt) The coach is connected to the other positive and negative terminals. Do I connect the solar charger to the same terminals as the coach? Does it matter?

Yes. Connect positive from solar controller to the positive where the coach is connected. Connect the negative to chassis ground or the negative terminal of the same battery the coach negative is connected to. It absolutely DOES matter!

Two 6-volt batteries are connected in series to double the voltage and leave the aH capacity as is for the single batteries.

Two 12-volt batteries get connected in parallel to double the aH capacity of a single battery while maintaining 12 volts.

If you connected two 6-volt batteries in parallel, you would only get 6 volts total out of them. If you connected two 12-volt batteries in series, you would get 24 volts out of them.

Thank you that is very helpful. I was 99% sure but after investing $400 in solar suitcase and solar back-up power bank I didn't want to connect the panel wrong and fry it.
