Furnace won’t come on

Took my new to me 2005 #5230 out for the first time. Everything worked except the furnace wouldn’t start. I was not plugged in, but tried to get it to work with and without generator. I was trying to use the “hunter fan” controller on the heat setting with auto fan. Does that control work for the furnace if not plugged? Is there some other switch or thermostat device that i am not seeing? I seem to be blind and a bit slow when trying to figure these things out. Appreciate any advice yet again.

Fixed. The up button was not making contact. Took the board out (8 or 9 tiny screws), and realigned the faulty button. And it actually worked!
