Default Just got back

Just got back from a weekend stay at one of the local Missouri State Parks. When we got there Thursday morning there were only 3 sites not taken for the weekend. Except for the thunderstorms Thursday night we had a very good time. Even though it rained about 2 or 3 inches we were snug inside our GS AmeriLite TT. Even the dogs settled in for a nice nights sleep. Friday and Saturday were clear and sunny . That gave us the chance to try out some new recipes in our dutch oven. The weekend went pretty fast as ususal and we weren't ready to come home this morning. On the drive home we were planning our next trip . Even with the $4 a gallon gas we still plan on going as often as we can get away. There are 4 or 5 State Parks within a 50-some mile radius of home. Spent less that $30 for gas this trip. The ol' Dodge got 8.6 mpg pulling the trailer. It gets about 10 not towing. That's acceptable.

Sounds like a good weekend. You are lucky to have an abundance of state parks. Charlie

Yes, Missouri has a few State Parks. The 2008 Official Vacation Planner lists 51, and another one is being built. On most weekends they are all usually full, too. We couldn't get into any in our area for the week of Independence Day, so it will be Back Yard Campground for the 4th. I want to check out the battery for dry camping anyway. That way we won't be to far from electricity if we run it down too fast.
