Default Inverter/charger/power

HELP!

My Xantrex controller is blinking and its lights are rotating like an '80s disco and I can't get the house batteries to hold a charge(only a couple years old).

This happens when it is plugged in to shore power, when the generator is running, or the inverter is on.

Is it the controller, batteries, transfer switch, or inverter?

On my Heart Interface panel when you press the buttons to Equalize the batteries it will do what you described. I hEope you didn't accidently press those buttons because the charge rate will climb as high as 18 volts and it could burn the circuit boards on your refrigerator. If that is the case, press the button to stop the Equalization of the batteries.

Thanks Ray,

I also posted this in the "Electrical" forum and got this response:

Try pulling the plug for the battery temperature sensor on the inverter.

It needed some kind of "reboot" and this worked. I had not equalized the batteries, but had just added distilled water to them when the problem occurred. I pulled the plugs and all went back to normal. All is good.

Equalizing the batteries should be done at least every six months. It will extend the life of your batteries. What it does is removes the built up of sulfate on the lead plates of the batteries. When you equalize the sulfate falls off and settles at the bottom of the batteries. I have the same Inverter/charger you have and if you follow the instructions on your manual on how to equalize, when you press the buttons on the control panel it will start the lights going in a circular motion, and it will stay like that for eight hours and then turn off automaticly. Make sure that no power goes to any of your outlets, like your frig. Your panel will show a high charging rate will occur for the next eight hours to rejuvenate the house batteries.

What you done by unplugging the wire at the inverter is to reboot it. You can also do it at the back of the Heart interface panel by unplugging it there also for a few seconds. I had to do that one time, but I can't remember what the problem was. I think it had something to do with the charger part of the inverter.

Not sure what caused it to go into that blinking mode, but it was doing it for three days until I read the response.
