Default Front suspension loading

I have weighed our 6331 again, and the front axle weight is getting over 9600 lbs. The front springs are rated for 10,000lbs. I don't like being that close. Normally when we travel, I only put in a bit more fresh water than what I think we will need. The idea being to reduce the rolling weight to save fuel. However, I went home and put in 80 more gallons of water, then went back to the weigh station. I successfully unloaded 200lbs from the front axle, by adding just over 300 lbs of water to the tank. The leverage of the water weight behind the rear axle unloaded the front axle. I think I would rather haul the water, than worry about the front springs.

That is the way I run all the time. A full tank of fresh water is good for balancing the front spring weights and it makes for easy one night stops at RV parks. I rarely hookup to water unless we are staying a few days in one place.

I believe this heavy front load is a phenomenon on the 6331. If my memory serves me correctly, others with the longer rear overhangs on their coaches have less weight on the front axle. The overhang has its own set of issues so I have really never worried too much about the front loading on the springs. IMHO it is the better problem to have.

When I last weighed my coach with a full tank of fresh water and 140 gallons of diesel, the front axle weight was 9180 with driver and passenger in their respective seats.

The last time I weighed our 09 6341 Endura the front was at 8900 lbs. This was fullt loaded as we use it but my wife (all 5'6" and 120lbs of her)wasnt with me. Fully stocked we gross out at 22k and then I tow our 06 Liberty and we get to 26k and some change. While I would still like to have and exhaust brake, I haven't found one that will work and still keep my warranty, ant suggestions out htere, Thanks, Steve
