Default Generator starting

Hey,
Does the generator start off the coach batteries or off the chassis batteries. Mine is turning slow and not starting, like a dead battery in a car, when the engine is off, but starts fine if the engine is running. I'm trying to figure out which batteries I need to replace. Thanks!

I believe that the generator is started with the chassis batteries. One way to find out is to try and start your coach. If it starts that big engine, it sure should start that little three cylinder engine on the genset.
And if the house batteries are going dead, just disconnect your shore power and check the house batteries on the panel or get a hydrometer and check the gravity on the batteries.

Gee do I feel silly.....I should have thought of that, I was too concerned with the length and guage of the cables to see the simple answer. Thanks! The coach batteries are original so they are being replaced.. 5 years is a pretty good run..
